Harald Dobnig, MD, Prof.

Prof. Dr. Harald Dobnig is a specialist for internal medicine (subspecialty endocrinology) and for nuclear medicine. After several years of research stays in the US (New York and at the Mayo Clinic, Minnesota) and a total of 20 years at the University Hospital in Graz, he has been Medical Director of the Institute Dobnig since 2010. He was president of the Austrian Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism and the Austrian Society of Bone and Mineral Metabolism. The scientific focus lies within the fields of osteoporosis, vitamin D, parathyroid hormone treatment and over the past years minimally invasive treatment of thyroid nodules. He has published numerous publications in these fields, organized congresses and held more than 700 national and international lectures. In 2014, he was the first doctor in the German-speaking countries to perform radiofrequency ablation of thyroid nodules. In the meantime, he has carried out more than 800 RFA treatments and is continuously working on scientific issues and public awareness of this topic and is also training other doctors in this specialist discipline. Currently he is speaker of the working group “RFA” of the Austrian Thyroid Association, member of the European and American Thyroid Association, as well as the American Endocrine Society.
